The VPF is a standardb format, structure, and organization for large geographic databases that are based on a georelational data model. The VPF databases are the U.S. Department of Defense Military Standard. The Defense Mapping Agency (DMA) supplies VPF databases for digital vector products developed at a variety of scales. VPF has also been adopted into an international spatial standard as the Digital Geographic Information Exchange standard.
